TFS2017 - Unable to change access levels

$

Hi Folks,

I have a new install of TFS 2017, I have created a new project as part of the setup and am wanting to change the access levels.  When I navigate to the appropriate screen to do this, with the exception of the 'stakeholders' access level, all of the other options are disabled (the add and set as default access level menus).

I am logged in as the Administrator and have checked that my account is a member of the 'Administration Console Users' group and is also a member of the Team Foundation Administrators group.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to enable this.

Regards
Andy

Azure SQL Database Deployment Task fails

Hello,

I am using TFS 2015 with update 3. In my release definition i use Azure Sql Database Deployment Task,

The task was working nice, but suddenly it always fails with following error:

The term 'Get-SqlPackageCommandArguments' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.

Any thoughts?

Error:

It happens only for the Visual Studio 2013 only, but when I open VS2010 and VS2015 everything works fine. Please suggest to make VS2013 work.

Thanks,

Kind regards Nils

Create a default group (with members) when creating a new Team Project

I am using an on-site TFS 2015 Update 3.

I would like to know how to automatically create a new group (i.e. "QA") that it part of every new Team Project. In other words, this group should be created as part of creating a new Team Project. It should also have members associated with it, validated by domain credentials.

Using the Process Editor, under "Groups and Permissions", I can "Add Group" which will generate the group for a new Team Project but it doesn't have members in it. When I attempt to "Add Member", there is only the following options, with no option for a Windows user:
[Project Collection]\Project Collection Build Service Accounts[Project Collection]\Project Collection Service Accounts
[Project]\Project Administrators

Thanks,

Dwayne

"Microsoft.VisualStudio.ServiceModel.Validation.ConfigValidationTask" task could not be loaded

$

I'm new to TFS build automation and have been tasked with creating an on-demand and a CI build for our group on our TFS 2010 server. I started off by using the DefultTemplate for the CI build and seemed to have worked through the issues I've encountered along the way, until now.

I'm getting the following error and can't seem to figure out how to resolve it:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\WCF\Microsoft.VisualStudio.ServiceModel.targets (33): The "Microsoft.VisualStudio.ServiceModel.Validation.ConfigValidationTask" task could not be loaded from the assembly Microsoft.VisualStudio.ServiceModel.Core, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35. Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.ServiceModel.Core, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. Confirm that the <UsingTask> declaration is correct, that the assembly and all its dependencies are available, and that the task contains a public class that implements Microsoft.Build.Framework.ITask.

Any guidance would be most appreciated.

Update: I've confirmed that all the projects in the solution target 4.5.1 and that 4.5.2 is installed on the build server.

Microsoft.TeamFoundation Object Model compatible with TFS 2017

Is the Microsoft.TeamFoundation Object Model compatible with TFS 2017? Is the REST API the replacement for the Object Model?

Is Git LFS supported in "Team Foundation Server 2015" on-premise?

I've searched quite a bit but still can't find a statement anywhere that definitively states this one way or the other.  I see that it was added to VSO and I see issues that seem to indicate that it is supported but would like to know for sure.

Thanks - Greg

Currently I am using TFS web portal for testing activities like creating bugs, test cases, etc... I am in need to add some custom fields to the bugs template. But I was not able to see the "Process" tab as it is mentioned in some of the help pages.

How to enable the process tab?

Dear Concern,

Currently Am using TFS 2015 .

I Have written Manual test case, and automated the same separately using selenium.

There is a tab name 'Associated Automation' in test case development.

Questions:

1. The tab 'Associated Automation' is disabled by default . WHY?

2. Is there a way i can add the automated test case path and details in TFS , to the corresponding manual test case.

3. How to trace Manual and automated test case .

4. Is there a way , i can choose the run type as Manual or automated.?

Hi,

We upgraded to TFS 2017 from TFS 2015 (update 3). One of the features are the Following button where I as a user can follow every work item without being assigned to it. How can I define and update other users as followers of a certain work item?

Thanks,

What does "<date> was updated" mean?

$

In the German version of

Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server

Version 15.105.25910.0

on the "Links" tab of a bug it says, "30.11.2016 wurde aktualisiert" with some date, which translates to "11/30/2016 was updated." What does it mean to update a date? And, how can that given date, a constant value, ever be updated?

Thanks a lot for your answers.

Work Item field content not loading

$

We are experiencing an intermittent problem that when opening items from any system or user-created query, the content in the Description/Steps to Reproduce/Acceptance Criteria fields is not loading to the page.

Because the blank fields are different than the database content for these fields, TFS recognizes a change, and if you save all in the query you're working through (or save the individual item without noticing), it will save the fields as blank.

You can recover content from history, of course, but this seems like a major issue.

Republish deleted nuget package

Oher implementations of the nuget feed are allowing to make nuget push after nuget delete for a package with the same name and the same version, but TFS implementation dose not. That is the correct way to republish nuget package into TFS nuget feed?

TeamFoundationServiceException: TF400367: The request could not be performed due to a host type mismatch

*This question is related to TF.exe info returns "Ignoring the /collection option but the accepted answer does not help me.

My Environment:

TFS Server Version: 14.102.25423.0 (TFS 2015 Update 3)

I have a DLL with powershell cmdlet named Get-NugetPublishingCache, that uses:

  • Reference: Microsoft.TeamFoundation.VersionControl.Client 11.0.0.0
  • Reference: Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client 11.0.0.0

What's the problem:

We have build server and old XAML build definition. In the post build script, we run custom powershell.

When it invokes the cmd-let (named Get-NugetPublishingCache) I get:

Get-NugetPublishingCache : Server was unable to process request. ---> TF400367: The request could not be performed due
to a host type mismatch. Please check any connection information and verify the information is correct. The request
was executed against a Deployment, Application.
At C:\Builds\2\PROJECTNAME\PublishPackagesPrerelease\src\Dev\Nuget-Publishing\publish.ps1:176 char:10+ $cache = Get-NugetPublishingCache -c $cacheLocation -s $sourceLocation+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ CategoryInfo : SyntaxError: (Company.Nuget.P...PublishingCache:GetNugetPublishingCache) [Get-NugetPubli
shingCache], TeamFoundationServiceException+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : Avanade.Nuget.Publishing.GetNugetPublishingCache

How it happened:

We were previously using TFS2013 but migrated to TFS 2015. In TFS 2013 it was working. It is broken since we updated.

I don't know what steps were taken in order to migrate Build Server (custom VM) to connect to the new TFS.

Associated changes with a build

$

Consider this case in TFS 2015:

- Have to folders A and B in Source control. A contains A.txt and B contains B.txt

- Create a new build, with $/ProjectName/A/ mapped under Repository.

Do the following:

- Modify A.txt and trigger a build.

   - Associated changes is the change to A.txt. This is expected.

- Modify B.txt and trigger a build.

   - No associated changes This is expected.

- Modify A.txt and B.txt in the same changeset and trigger a build.

   - Associated changes is the change to A.txt and B. This is expected.

- Modify A.txt in a changeset and then modify B.txt in a separate changeset and trigger a build.

   - Associated changes is the change to A.txt AND the change to B.txt. This is NOT expected, only change to A.txt should be listed.

Our problem is that we have 20 products, each in their own subfolder. Since each build associates every single change in source control since the last build, as long as there is at least one change to the product, the list of change is largely irrelevant.

Is there any way to change this behavior (except for creating a Team project for every product, which we do not want to do)

I have tested this in VS Team Services, and there it works as expected.
