My Upgrade of TFS from 2010 to 2013 is stuck on upgrading of the Collection. It is stuck at step 13 of 792 for over 12 hours now.
Our collection database is large at 600 Gigs. Should it take this log? I can find any errors in the event log and tfs log files stopped tracking anything as of 5 hours ago. I cant find any errors in those logs either.
I cant figure out what to do now as there is not even an option to stop the process.
We are running a single tier setup. We still have 1 TB of disk space free on our data drive.
I did try successfully to create a new collection this morning so TFS seems healthy but that doesn't help much when all our data is locked up. is there a way to kill the upgrade so I can at least restore the collectiondatabase and try again?
why is the agile boards Feature as well as the Team rooms Feature missing in tfs express 2013 ?
During the Installation it is statet, that this would install tfs Basic, but Visual Studio online Basic contains these Features.
Is there a Special reason why These Features are available online but not on a local Installation?
I have installed TFS 2010 to a Windows Server 2003. I have also installed Team Explorer 2010 to my PC which we are running Windows 7 on. The project that we are trying to use in TFS is written in VB6. When I download TFS 2010 MSSCCI provider I get the error message "Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Team Explorer or its tools are not installed or registered. Please install or repair your Team Foundation Client." I have the SP6 on VB and the .NET Framewrok 4 installed to meet all of the requirements. I have tried to repair the install of Team Explorer multiple times. What am I missing here? Any help would be appreciated.
TF246018: The database operation exceeded the timeout limit and has been cancelled. Verify that the parameters of the operation are correct.
The environment consists of a single Windows 2008 R2 Standard with 16GB of RAM running TFS 2013 server & SQL Server 2012
The problem started when we migrated the database from our old TFS 2010 server to the new one described above.
We branched a new TeamProject from one to another, we lost all of our merge references between the branches in the new TeamProject. To set up new merge references between the branches in the new TeamProject we performed
baseless merge sucesfully with the "Source Control Merge Wizard" in Visual Studio 2013.
Now we cant perform merge based on labels anymore without getting the error TF246018. We can still merge based on latest, changesets and date.
Does anybody have a clue what we are missing?
Hi Guys

What are the warnings are considered as Statis Analysis warnings in TFS Warehouse database. Static Analysis Warnings column from FactBuildProject table.
Is it possible to get list of those warnings.
ENVIRONMENT: VS2013 - TFS 2012
I do not know whether this is related to our move to VS2013 but now when i try to do a simple brach from the MAIN line I get this:
TF10169: Unsupported pending change attempted on team project folder $/Test. Use the Project Creation Wizard in Team Explorer to create a project or the Team Project deletion tool to delete one.
I also no longer have the option of creating a branch from the "Create New Team Project" wizard.
Can someone please assist because I am at a stand still here.
Help! I've done something stupid!
While saving a new visio document to a folder the TFS sharepoint I accendently saved my document as AllItems.aspx. In otherwords I managed to overwrite the SharePoint'sAllItems.aspx with my visio document. Now when I open the sharepoint folder I get"An error occurred during the processing of /sites/Project1/Documentation/Forms/AllItems.aspx. The server block is not well formed."
Does anyone have any idea of how I can restore the original AllItems.aspx?
Kaneda?
When I have a review ready to be finished, I click the "Review & Finish" dropdown linkbutton thing and select any option, it always errors out with "Empty reviewer name". Any idea what is wrong?
Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.
The build machine reports showing 30 warnings but TFS cubes reports showing 82 warnings.
Why the difference or what could be the reason?
Hi All,
My first post on the community, don't know yet the standards for posting issues. I'll try to be concise and smooth about it.
I am using the VS 2012:
I connect to multiple TFS 2010 & TFS 2012 servers. The problem is whenever I work on projects synced under a TFS 2012 server and then switch to a TFS 2010 server (just to check some TFS project work item, or any similar task), then switch back to the
previous TFS 2012 server I am unable to load the Source Control properly (I get "Source Control Explorer - Disconnected" tab heading, or the TF400324 error).
Some of the things I tried were:
Solution/Work Around is to clear up the Cache located on my Local AppData of my VS 2012, then it will work fine. But this workaround is really quite frustrating to do especially when I have many instance of VS 2012 started, I will need to close each one
of them to be able to clear the cache.
Let me know if you need any more info. that I am able to provide.
Thanks in advance!
Good morning All,
Little background:-
We are developing a "Classic ASP"to "ASP.NET" migration project. The project started using ASP.NETWeb site Template (not web application project (WAP)). Language:VB.NET, Currently using "VS.NET 2012", "LINQ to SQL" . Recently one of our senior person decided to develop the rest of the migration pages using Entity Framework Model Binding Web Forms. Initial we got some errors because we have already part of application (some migration pages) developed using LINQ TO SQL (.dbml)and new one's (rest of migration pages) we are planning to use Entity Framework (.edmx). We resolved all the issues and now i have some pages using entity frame work which are working along with old page developed using "LINQ to SQL".
Issue:-
The current issue is we are usingTFS 2012 and when i am kicking a build i am getting errors related to Entity Framework.
Some errors are like below
C:\Builds\2\MyProject\MyProject DEV_BRANCH\Sources\MyProject\MyProject DEV_BRANCH\App_Code\Models\MyProjectModel.Context.vb : Type 'DbSet' is not defined.
C:\Builds\2\MyProject\MyProject DEV_BRANCH\Sources\MyProject\MyProject DEV_BRANCH\App_Code\MyClass.vb:’SaveChanges’ is not a member of ‘MyProjectEntitities’.
Note:- Where ‘MyProjectEntitities’ is my context class of entity framework (.edmx)
My Project TFS build structure is like below
$
|____ My Project
|_____ BuildProcessTemplates
|_____ MyProject DEV_BRANCH
|____MyProject files (Account Folder, App_Code Folder, CSS Folder, Images Folder….)
|_____SolutionsFolder
Note:- Above the “SolutionsFolder” is a folder which contains all my “DEV”, “TEST” related .sln files. Ex:- For dev build the TFS build
Processè 1. RequiredèItems to Buildè Projects To Buildè“$/MyProject/Solutions Folder/MyProject_DEVBRANCH.sln”
My TFS Server does not have Entity Framework installed. Will putting below dll’s in GAC (dropping below dll’s to my server c:\windows\assembly) will help or what I have to do?
"EntityFramework.SqlServer.dll"
"EntityFramework.dll"
Thank you
Ashok
I am using Visual Studio 2012 & 2013 with Team Foundation Server 2012.3. I am located in Hawaii, but the server is in Texas. While I was in Texas, I never had access problems. After shipping my workstation out here and restarting work (over a VPN if that makes any difference), I have found that when checking in (mostly) and checking out (rarely) VS will display a "Access is Denied" message but will perform the action anyway. When it does this, it performs the action very slowly (sometimes a minute or more to check in a few kilobyte file), but when it works properly, it is pretty fast (only a few seconds).
Is there a log somewhere that I can view what exactly is being denied? I noticed another person asking something similar, but they were complaining of packet loss, and I am not seeing any packet loss on my connection to the office.
whe i open a new project an i chose c++ and win 32 console applecation
the prgram do not open to me a wendow to add a new item
Hi,
Our tfs works like a charm for everybody but 1 user.
Source control operations take forever on his box.
Checking the eventlog I found this:

Hello!
I am using TFS 2013 Express and I've encountered next problem:
I'm trying to edit build definition to specify custom drop location - it's needed because Website build drops (not Web application) have specific structure. So, I downloaded Default build definition .xaml file from server, and when I changed drop location I
got error message - "'Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Build.Client.BuildDefinition' is not accessible in this context becuase it is 'Friend'".
Please help.
