Can TFS 2008 integrate with MS Project Server 2010?

This may be a bit past-tense in it's subject, but I'm curious whether you can integrate Team Foundation Server 2008 with MS Project Server 2010, or if you must have at least the 2010 version of both tools to create that interface.  Is there a workaround possible?

TFS 2012: Sprint information disappear

Hi,

We are facing a strange issue with TFS2012.

Sprint information are disappeared from the Web Access page. Only some partial information is left.

All source control check in and files are still intact.

We even try to restore it from overnight backups. But still the web access page doesn't show up latest sprint information anymore.

How do we fix this issue or track down what was wrong?

thank you.

TFS 2010 VS2008 - only collection admins can access to tfs

Dear all,

After one of our developers added site to TFS IIS - vs2008 users cannot access to tfs. the error is:

Access Denied: "XXX user" needs the following permission(s) on the resource NAMESPACE to perform this action: View collection-level information

I run fiddler and saw that they get error 500 to ->/tfs/_tfs_resources/Services/v1.0/ServerStatus.asmx

When i use vs2010 they can log on successfully to TFS.

When i added the users to TFS collection admins they can log successfully to TFS via VS2008.

nothing changed in permission.

Roey.

I'm trying to get a webservice up an running that consumes TFS Work Item Changed Events.

Everything I've read says the following method definition should work:

[SoapDocumentMethod(Action = "http://schemas.microsoft.com/TeamFoundation/2005/06/Services/Notification/03/Notify", RequestNamespace = " http://schemas.microsoft.com/TeamFoundation/2005/06/Services/Notification/03")]
[WebMethod(MessageName = "Notify")]
public void Notify(string eventXml)
{
//My Code here.
}

However, in the JobHistory on the TFS server, I get the following error:

There were errors or warnings during notification delivery.   0/0 emails delivered.  0/1 soap notifications delivered.   1 errors.  0 warnings.    -------------------------------  Notification not delivered.    Notification: WorkItemChangedEvent (DeliveryType: Soap; Address: <MyWebServiceAddress.asmx>)    Exception: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException:Unable to handle request without a valid action parameter. I've been spinning on this for a while, and any insights would be greatly appreciated.

How to register Custom checkin policy for Visual Studio 2013

$

Hi,

I installed Visual Studio 2013 and having problem with Custom Check in policies. I added new Key and Value to the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\12.0\TeamFoundation\SourceControl\Checkin Policies\MyPolicyName. Basically I followed everything in this link:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb668980.aspx., but I still get error: Internal error in "My policy". Error loading the "MyPolicy" policy (The policy assembly 'MyPolicy, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' is not registered.). Installation instructions: To install this policy, read InstallInstructions.txt.

Previously it was built in .NET 4.5 and worked fine with VS 2012. I though maybe building it in .NET 4.5.1 might fix the problem, but it didn't. What should I do to fix it? and where is the InstallInstructions.txt located?

UPDATE:

I am using TFS 2012 and SQL Server 2012. Visual Studio 2013 Premium (not preview).

Thanks for the help!

Show Work Item Attachment in Work Item Description

$

Hi there,

I want to display images in Work Item descriptin field. For that I throught I add images as attachment (Field: Attachment) to Work Item.

In TFS2012 that I use there is a Description field which displays HTML.

Here I found out that I can insert <a> tags with href param to show clickable links. If I write <img src="..." /> I can display images.

The image should be displayed like in this tutorial descripted: http://msmvps.com/blogs/vstsblog/archive/2008/08/09/using-images-in-description-fields.aspx

By adding an image I can not find out which url does a attachment of a work item has that I can directly show it in Work Item Description field.

Is there a solution for that?

C# and TFS WorkItem

$

I’ve written a C# utility for our product.

The current product uses a Database project in Visual Studio 2010. This DB Project generates our database scripts.

We are removing the DB Project in our next release so I’ve written a BuildScript utility.

This utility is written in C# and connects to TFS.

I read some text files and these files list the Stored Procedures that have changed.

I then create a SQL script which would be used by our installer.

Everything works fine. But now I’m to the point where I need my application to check-in the update or newly created scripts.

But I can’t check in changes without a work item

Error received - Check-In Policy Violation: Please associate a work item to the changeset

How do I have the C# applications check in code programmatically into TFS?

This utility will be called as part of our nightly build process for our product right before the install media is created.

Thanks,

Joe

I have installed SQL 2012 SP1 express. I dont see an SP2 release, so what am I missing?

Problem with Project file in TFS Source Safe

Hi there

How to avoid having the project file in Source Safe but have all the project items in it?

In the picture above the project file BBBSilverlight.Web is in the Source Safe and it is checked out. As soon as another user adds something into the project, it needs me to check it in. The latter operation overrides the another user's project settings, namely, the Web Host URI. This is a huge problem. How to fix it?

Thanks

VS 2013 Custom Check-In Policy - Error Loading Policy

$

I am trying to use the VS 2012 version of my custom check-in policy (DLL) with VS 2013.  Will this even work?

This is what I tried and it doesn't seem to be loading in VS 2013:

1.  I have added registry entries to the DLL here:

-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\12.0_Config\TeamFoundation\SourceControl\Checkin Policies

- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VisualStudio\12.0\TeamFoundation\SourceControl\Checkin Policies

2.  Started VS with /setup and then started VS 2013 normally and the checkin policy load error keep occurring.  (Error loading policy)

I get the Error Loading Policy error dialog.  Are there any VS startup logs I can look at?

Thoughts?

I have a Windows-app written with VS 2012 (VB). This program (client) should now also create a new workitems (TFS 2013).

How can I perform this?

  • is there any pre-defined dialog I can use?
  • should I design my own form, or is there a possibilty to open the dialog from TeamExplorer like TeamCompanion does?
  • the WorkItemFormControl Class is obsolete for VS2012.
  • Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Client.WorkItem has no dialog...

Team Web Access Language (TFS 2010)

Hello!!

I have a problem with the TWA language.

We have a server with TFS 2010 English and the users uses it normally by the Visual Studio 2010 Team Web Access project at browser. The pages with the bugs, forms, queries, tasks is in English obviously.

We have to turn the web access to Spanish without to customize all the fields using VS Power Tools. Then we use this process:

To modify language and time settings

  1. In Team System Web Access, point to Settings, point to Profile, and then clickOptions.

  2. In the Options dialog box, click the Regional Settings tab.

  3. In the Culture list, click the language that you want.

  4. In the Current time zone list, click the time zone that you want, and clickOK.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb822199(v=vs.90).aspx

After change the zone and the culture, the page refreshes and still in English, not in Spanish.

What more we have to do?

I don't find Language Packs neither the installation of Spanish TFS 2010.

But I found this article:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd578674(v=vs.100).aspx

Thanks for any help.
