TF20015: The field 'Assigned To' contains the value 'xyz' that is not in the list of supported values.

When creating a new work item, a list of valid users is populated in the 'assigned to' drop down list. When I select one of the listed domain user values, the drop down color changes to yellow and the error 'TF20015...' is shown.

When selecting the user 'Team Foundation Server Service user' instead of one of the domain users, another error is shown. The 'Assigned By' seams to be valid but the 'Changed by' property, which contains my current domain user 'xyz', seams to be an invalid value.

Error occurs in Team Explorer for VS2008/2010 and Team Web Explorer

Environment: TFS 2010 RC

Does anyone have some tips where to look at?

I get the above error very often when checking in a changeset. If I do the checkin Again immediately it normally succeeds- through sometimes I have do it several times.

For the first time I am trying to shelve my changes. This I am unable to do. Shelve consistently fails with the above error.

Hi,

Recently I had a VM built which has Windows Server 2012 R2. I did install VS 2013 ultimate on that server and was trying to connect to TFS. I get this error message.

TF14045 The identity <GUID> is not a recognized identity

I am able to connect from my local machine (windows 7 and VS 2013 ultimate) without any issues.

This issue is not only for me, All user who connects to TFS from Windows Server 2102 R2 have the same error. But from their local boxes(Windows 7/XP etc)  its working fine

Anyone encountered this issue? Any assistance or help is highly appreciated.

Thanks

TFS fails to get latest Git changes on manual builds

$

Hi guys,

I'm running TFS 2013 with Git and I'm seeing a strange behaviour:

I have a build definition as:

  • Trigger: Manual
  • Source Settings: Get Sources from Git with default manual branch set to refs/heads/vnext

Now the first time I trigger the build, it correctly builds the HEAD at ref/heads/vnext. But if I commit a change, push and trigger another build, TFS will not checkout my change.

For example,  in my local machine I have:

git log --pretty=oneline
4349b7a93a35676f8c7f9ac55d994fd9ef44b1e1 xxxx
a5366f6207e9597b922e7bc1a47f298338132db7 xxxx
3c8602fb2b992f235c66d95272a21f2c0c2b9c26 xxxx
1114fa08a970b587ec36989bacf6e0f1406d78ce xxxx

In TFS web interface, I can confirm the same commit history.

When I manually trigger the build, I get this in the detailed logs:

Fetching repository 'http://xxx.xxx.xxx/xxx/_git/xxx' into 'C:\Builds\1\xxx\xxx\src'.
Checking out branch refs/heads/vnext.
Setting the source get version of the build to LG:refs/heads/vnext:a5366f6207e9597b922e7bc1a47f298338132db7.

And if I go to the build agent's working directory I confirm that the repository is at the a5366f6207 commit instead of 4349b7a93a.

Is this the way it should be? I'm not sure if I'm missing something here. CI builds work as expected.

Thanks

TFS Databases - Installation Requirements

$

Either No one has asked this, or it really doesn't matter, which I can not believe, or I just lack the ability to "Google" when Setting up TFS, there are several Default databases installed.  I am trying to find the specifications on these databases. i.e. Start size for Data & Log, Required hard disk space, possible growth rate items like that.

I haven't  found this information.  I just thinks this is very odd.

Please let me know if you have it or have a link that contains it.

Thank you,

Susan

"Secret URL" for granting read access to the project plan ?

$

I would like to publish the current project plan to my clients without much hassle.

Is there a way to create a "secret URL" to a TFS query, which I can send them via e-mail?

They should just be able to read the project plan, no changes needed.

Extracting list of users/groups

Hi,

I'm trying to extract a list of all the groups/users in our TFS environment. It seems there isn't really a simple way to do it. I've found various bits of code on the internet, but they seem to be for 2010, and we're on 2013 so they don't work. TFS security seems to be the way to go but its not really a friendly layout ..

Does anyone know of a tool or way to get a nice list of users/groups in a friendly readable format?

cheers,

Jon

Sprint backlog doesn't render for user

I have a new TFS user, who is in all the correct TFS groups, but when he goes to: Work -> Backlog -> Board the results never render on his computer.

Other users can log in on this computer and they get results, so the timeout (see below) is limited to this one user. Thoughts on what to investigate next?

Is there a Power Tools install for 2015?

Can I link tasks to specific locations in code?

Hi,

In VS 2012, is there a way for me to create a task and link it to, say, line 350 in an action method in a controller?

The idea is to create tasks for people in my team where they can open their tasks and by clicking a link, they can get to the section in the code where they need to do their work.

Thanks, Sam

Mapping Issue for newly created team project : TF10175: The [unrelated old deleted project name] team project folder does not exist.

Hi,

I deleted a team project (both server side and locally), cleared the cache for visual studio and team foundation but whenever I try to create a new project, I cannot map it as it keeps trowing the following error:

TF10175: The [unrelated old deleted project name]  team project folder does not exist.

The deleted project and newly created project have different names. All the settings seem correct, I have nothing referencing the old project and am at loss as to the steps to take to resolve this issue. My older projects are functioning normally.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

kirwen

Team foundation Sever 2012 local workspaces will not work properly in MSSCCI Why?

Dear TFS,

According to many articles, it's best to use local workspaces.  But I am getting an error:

---------------------------
Changing to Server workspace
---------------------------
The workspace you selected (NWG-V-ONTWIK01_pbtest) is a local workspace. Local workspaces will not work properly in MSSCCI. It is recommended to change this workspace to a server workspace. Do you want to change this workspace to a server workspace?
---------------------------
Yes   No   Cancel
---------------------------

The following steps created  the error.

1.) I create a local workspace

2) I want to create a MS Access 2003 Project, via Create Database From Team Foundation Project.

3) Select the local worspace, created in Point 1

Next I have MS Access 2003 database with NO source. The source control however is visible.

When I go to Get Latest Version or Checkout, nothing happens, sometimes I am getting an error:

---------------------------
Microsoft Office Access
---------------------------

The next error soon appears:
---------------------------

TFS Project Permissions

Hello everyone!
I am currently dealing with some permissions´ issues. Turns out that we have like 15 projects, and we just got 4 developers, that due to some company policy, they are ONLY allowed to deal with 2 of those projects. I was wondering how i could set on TFS the right permissions for those 4 developers so they can ONLY see those 2 projects from the 15 we have. What would be the right settings, steps?
Kind regards,
leo.
