Migrate from VSO to TFS 2013 on premises

Hi,

I need to migrate from VSO to local TFS and I would really like to keepat least changesets history. It would be extremly usefull if I were able to use "Annotate" feature and see "who has written what" after migration. Work Items are not important. Is that possible?
I know there has been export feature for a while after beta period expired.

The Degenerate Dimension

Copy-and-Paste in WebAccess destroys System.History-Field

i have a workitem 4711 with a couple of comments von different people. for example

Jonathan Butler : "This used to work"

Anton Miller : "I think it's in myfunction.c"

If you take a look on the workitem in WebAcecss you see a Identity Image for the Person, his name and then the Comment

If you mark the Comment it's quite easy to mark the Identity Image too, then you make strg-c and paste it with strg-v in another workitem and save it. it's takes a long time, and then the new item is corrupt. it is not possible to save more text in the field. if you change another field, then you can save the workitem but you lose the text in system.hostoryfield.

we are using TFS 2013 Update 4 und IE 11. if you try to paste this in VS 2013 Ultimate Update 4 it's ok.

here ist the corrupt part:

<div Testvertragsfortschreibung in Prod laufen lassen, danke</div><p><span src="http://webhg-tfsprod.int.alte-leipziger.de:8080/tfs/DefaultCollection/_api/_common/IdentityImage?__v=5"></span></p>

normal part:

<p>Hallo Herr Wagner,</p><p>hier ist nur LVV betroffen. Bitte die Durchführung der&nbsp;Testvertragsfortschreibung genehmigen. Danke.</p>

I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Professional.

However I couldn't find TFS, so I downloaded TFS Express 2012.

Can I use this combination without any problem?

Should I download TFS Express 2010? Is it free?

What I want is to use TFS from my Visual Studio 2010 professional

I added comments to a changeset, and person who checked in, didn't get any email about it, I have to tell them where the comment is so they can read it.

System requirements and process to build SharePoint 2013 projects using TFS 2010 team build on build server.

Hi,

My team is planning to build Sharepoint 2013 projects using team build 2010 as we do not have any idea of upgrading to TFS 2012 or 13 in the near future. I have gone thru http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jjameson/archive/2011/02/27/building-sharepoint-2010-solutions-on-a-tfs-2010-build-server.aspx which is for SP 2010 vs TFS 2010.

My question is, for SP2013 vs tfs 2010 do we have any process like copying assemblies and build SP solutions on build server similar to what I have read in the above link?

                                                   or

Do we need to install SharePoint server 2013 on the TFS 2010 build server?

If both or any one of the processes is/are doable, please let me know the system requirements for build sever and also would be great if I can know the process.

Thanks,

Build_Adam

What Plug Ins enable you to interface with End Users through TFS?

$

Hello. Currently I am operating off two systems; Managed Service Desk (IT Help Desk tickets) and TFS for more of our development projects. In order for me to get rid of the first application I need to find a plug in that will interact with TFS and allow me to make responses to my end audience without them needing a license for TFS. This solution (plug in) will allow my end users who are stakeholders to put in requests, bugs, user stories and allow me to respond to them through the plug in.

Any recommendations?

Thank you.

When I erased all the original collections and projects from TFS and uninstalled it, the project in the local workspace that was not checked out became unaivalable.

How can I restore the local projects back to available, local will be fine, without the TFS being restored?

Monitoring Team Foundation Server

Hello,

We have a two server deployment for Team Foundation Server 2013 with Database Tier on one server and Application tier on another.

To effectively manage and maintain both the servers/applications/Database, my organization is looking at options.

I suggested use of SCOM to monitor resources, services, etc. We are looking at options like activebatch - an application that is a Job Scheduler. activebatch is a consideration because we already have a license of the product.

Using activebatch, we are supposed to schedule jobs (written in PowerShell, SQL Server and whatever may be required) that will monitor certain parameters/resources of the Servers/Application/Database. Please suggest what parameters can be considered for monitoring. What all is required to be monitor.

I understand that SCOM Provides, out-of-box management packs to do such activity, I just need an answer as to why SCOM is better than scheduling hand-crafted jobs for monitoring.

I am in favour of SCOM but organization requires explanations to why not activebatch.

Thanks in advance!!

Yogesh

Thanks

Hi,

Hello!

I have created some server side plugins for TFS 2012. Soon I will switch to TFS 2013. Are the TFS 2012 plugins compatible with TFS 2013?

Getting Started with Continuous Integration and TFS 2013...

Hi all,

We're going to be going through some pretty drastic procedural changes here at work (moving to SCRUM).  As part of this we would like to streamline or improve our current build process.  Currently it's basically a scripted nightly build where 'stuff' is checked out of TFS, compiled, wrapped in an installation, etc. for QA in the morning.

We want to move to Continuous Integration with TFS.  I've begun researching, but don't really know where to start.  With Build Server, Controller, Agents, etc., it's quickly become a dizzying web of information.

What I would like to know is where is the logical place to start?  Would creating the Build Server be mission 1.  Might this then be followed by Agents, then the Controller?

Any helpful links or information so I can jump off at a logical starting point would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance and I'm sure I'll have more questions once I start off. :D

I am using TFS 2013 (Premise license) in my project. I can see PBI and Feature levels are displayed as default. I want to create additional levels for Epic and Themes. Could you please someone direct me how to do this in TFS 2013?

Thanks in advance.
