Database growing too large, tbl_content

Hi,

We have a TFS 2012 environment that has been upgraded from 2010, and that from 2008. We have noticed recently that the DB has grown to around 500GB. It has also been growing quite quickly recently. The tbl_content DB is around 450GB.

We had a similar problem with TFS 2010, but this was caused by test attachments, and was resolved using this post:

http://geekswithblogs.net/terje/archive/2011/11/15/guide-to-reduce-tfs-database-growth-using-the-test-attachment.aspx

Now, we thought it was originally the same issue, but when I check, the tbl_attachment, the data in there is tiny, like 90mb.

Yesterday, using the TAC, I could see there was about 130gb of data, i removed around 100gb, and I can see from the queries today that there is around 30gb of attachment data, but I'm guessing its no longer stored in the tbl_attachments?

We do run a lot of tests, and will be running more soon, so I'm guessing

So my question is:

1. Does TFS 2012 deal with the attachments in a different way?

2. If I only have 30GB of attachment data, then why is my tbl_content 450GB?!

3. Is there any other tools which will tell me exactly what and where the space is being used (for)

Cheers,

Jon
