I am training another developer in using C# with Visual Studio 2012. We have a unique setup where all our developers have Visual Studio 2012 Ulitimate, however we are still using TFS 2008 and all developers were supposed to have be set up with the same permissions and configuration. Yet, I had set up a tutorial site under TFS where my student is getting an error message on VS startup in the Output window stating he is not connected to TFS because he is not authorized; however he is still able to checkout the latest changes to the project and is also able to check-in any changes he has made.
I am confused as to why he continually rececieves this error message that seems to have no affect on his ability to check-in and out project items. I am assuming it may refer to some other area or method of connecting to TFS, however I dislike making assumptions. Can anyone please explain what may be going on here?
