Managing Full SDLC using TFS

We have used TFS for source control for a long time.    My question is this - it seems to me that code, and backlog and associated items, user stories, features and epics live at the team project level in TFS.   I understand how to setup backlog, Epics, Features, user stories etc.   Once the initial development is complete that that is put into production - we have the project site that contains all of the artifacts and data points about the creation of that project.   So far so good.   Now,  we great ready to enhance that product.   We have accumulated new backlog items and have decided to start work on ourApp 2.0.   On the code side, we create a new branch, a branch for maintenance and off we go.   How do you segregate the management aspects to this new endeavor?   I have been reading as much as I can and it is still not clear.   Areas?   Any advice on how to set this up correctly to support a product throughout a long iterative version / enhancement life-cycle would be appreciated.
