Creating Build Definition with MSbuild files

Hi , In Visual Studio 2010 and tfs 2012.We can only checkin the msbuild files and rest of the files are checkedinn in different source control l so is it possible to create build definition in (TFS explorer -->create new build defintion) only with msbuild files?How?
